Say Ox?

Gate Mime? Magi Meet? Game Time!

Last Week’s Winner

We played the PSB Original Game Bests And Worsts last week, asking you to come up with the worst name for a band. Let’s look at the best, or should we say worst, responses.

Big A thought “the Cacaphonies” would be an awful name, and we concur. But, his tagline overdid it. Bands don’t really have taglines. So that answer doesn’t win.

Sam posted two answers, “The Off-Keys” and “The Flat Heads”. Eh.

Luca came close with his response of “The Beach Boys.” That’s a pretty dumb name for a band, but since the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame doesn’t agree, that answer doesn’t win, either.

Which means that Elizabeth wins with her group, “The Deaftones.” Get it? Like the Deftones, but deaf. Well done, Elizabeth!

This Week’s Game

Yesterday, Johnny decided to use all the letters in the alphabet exactly once to make a sentence about gravy and ox and blitz-jump. And since he had a drawing to go along with it, we thought we would play the PSB Original Game, Say What?, where your job is to come up with a funny caption to a picture.

Here’s the picture:
gravy-blitz-jumping-ox

Now, come up with a funny caption. Here’s ours:

All this gravy and me with no mashed potatoes!

See? Easy. And we’re sure your responses will be funnier than that one.

So, please put your captions in the comments. And please, no jokes about how the ox really looks like a cow. Johnny has always been very sensitive about his ox representations, and we don’t want to fracture his ego further.

Say Wet?

Well well well, what have we here? GAME TIME!

Last week we got so excited over the Spelling Bee that we decided to have three, yes THREE, games dedicated to the linguistical challenge. We’re not gonna go over every answer, so here are the highlights:

In our game of Headliners, we liked big A’s “Kavya and Champagne to the Winer” but you can’t have a misspelled word in a headline about a spelling bee, can you?

Tony’s “All Children Left Behind – By Shivashankar” would be a great name for Kavya’s autobiography, but not so great for a headline. (It probably wouldn’t be a great name for an autobiography either, but we’re just being nice.) (Well, we were being nice until we changed our minds in the first set of parentheses).

So the winner for the Spelling Headliners goes to … Max! “Chand Is Loser, It’s Official” would be a perfect headline. It doesn’t mention who won the Bee, and it manages to pick on a kid who will probably hear a lot of that for the rest of his life.

In the round of Bests and Worsts, we asked for the worst word to misspell in the Bee. We got “b”, “unpreparedness”, “misspelling”, “champion”, and “home-schooling,” but the winner goes to “moron”. That would be a tough way to lose on national television. So congrats to Tony for winning that one after coming close in Autobiography Titlers.

Finally, we played a round of Little Known Facts. Those answers tend to be longer than a single word, so check out the comments on your own since they are all pretty funny. We epecially liked Bee-yourslef’s answer because we find it amusing when people don’t exactly understand our games.

Anyway, the winner of that game goes to DJ for his answer regarding shivalry and Zeb Roid’s sister.

And now on to this week!

It’s time for another round of the once played PSB Original Game, “Say What?” Well, it’s not too original, but all you got to do is come up with a clever caption for the picture and post it in the comments. Here’s the picture:

(Remember it from yesterday’s post about umbrellas?)

And here’s our caption:
I feel like Eeyore. And you’re like Tigger if Tigger ever had a flamethrower on his head.

Wanna play? Post your answer in the comments.

Say What?

Howdy, folks! Welcome to another edition of Game Time! We have some big doings this week, so let’s get started!

Remember last week’s game? Well, then, allow us to refresh your memory. We played the PSB Original game Headliners where we wanted you to give us a headline to an article about President Obama’s hundredth day in office. Let’s give a brief recap of the entrants.

Charles said “Obama’s 100th Day mark.” Accurate and concise, to be sure, but perhaps lacking the comedic punch we were hoping for.

Luca suggested “Benedict Arlen,” which was clever, but we had heard people on the news use that, so it wasn’t that clever.

Tony gave probably the funniest answer with “HYPOCRITE OBAMA! President opposes tourture, allows prime-time press conference.” But, he’s not this week’s winner.

By process of elimination, Lorenzo wins! His headline was “Arlen Gives New Meaning to ‘Swing State.’” Certainly clever, but also with enough seriousness to grace the front page of a prestigious newspaper. Or at least the front page of a silly blog, which it shall. Congratulations, Lorenzo!

As you probably know by now, we at the Pake Shlake Band enjoy games, and we are always looking for new, fun games to play and to share with you, our adoring fans. Okay, maybe you’re not really adoring, but at least you’re our fans. The point is, today we would like to unveil a new PSB Original game. Say what? We said today we would like to unveil a new PSB Original game. No no, that’s the name of the game: Say What?

The idea is simple. We give you a picture and your job is to come up with a caption to it. Funniest caption wins. In honor of Cinco de Mayo, here is the picture for this week’s game.

Our caption? Here it is:

“Um, today is ocho de Mayo!”

Don’t be shy! Come and play our new game! And who knows, you might be celebrating next Friday. As always, your feedback on the games we play is always appreciated, as long as its positive. Good luck!
